When was the last time a miracle happened to you? Why don't miracles happen like they did back when Jesus was alive.. Isn't he the same Jesus he was back 2000 yrs ago? I think that sometimes we don't look for miracles, therefore they don't happen. When our kids are sick what is the first thing we do? We take them to the doctor, right? It's (usually) not until they are on their deathbed do we ask for prayer and call the churche prayer chain. What if we were to pray for our kids as soon as they felt a little headache? Why can't we ask God for the small things, but we can for the big things?
I think God is in heaven WAITING for us to ask for small things... I heard this story about a tribe in Papua New Guniea and the tribal people would hold their sick kids up to God and God would heal even the simple things. Healings happened there as often as we do laundry, or drive a car because their only resource is God. Not Doctors. I'm not saying Doctors are bad and we don't need them. Give God a chance to do a miracle. God wants to show us just how awsome he is. Just what he can do, but we don't let him. We have cars, doctors, medicines etc... If we had none of those things what would we do? Pray, right? Then why don't we do it first?
I want to hear stories from you, my friends, when the last time you seen a miracle?? This is a challenge, let God do His work, and miracles will happen. Miracles come in all shapes and sizes, but I am talking about HEALINGS etc.. Here is a miracle not of healing, but of how God provides. This is a story of my good friend Sara Goheen who is in the process of adopting a child from Guatamela (s/p?).
"I've been praying about finding a Pediatrician. Although I am in the very beginning stages of the adoption, it is important to have contact with a Pediatrician who is aware of and educated on intercountry adoptive children. So I wrote a letter to one of the Pediatricians I know in town who I greatly respect. I prayed over it, sent the letter out and left it at that. Last night at work, one of the doctors came in to see patients. He is a family doctor and also admits and sees pediatric patients as well. He's very good. As he was sitting down to chart right next to me, I routinely just asked him if he has any children. He told me he has a 5-yr-old daughter. I was like "Oh that's cool..." And off I went to check on my patients. He was on the floor for quite a while... and not a few minutes went by when this doctor hunts me down again and excitedly asked me, "Do you want to see pictures of my daughter?" He proceeded to pull out like 12 pictures of his daughter. She's bi-racial and he & his wife are Caucasian. I asked, "Did you adopt her?" He said they had adopted her from a teenage mother when she was 4 days old right from the hospital. Without hesitation, he told me their entire adoption journey! It was blown away and encouraged :D I told him about my plan to adopt a baby fro Guatemala. Later, before he left the floor, I caught up with him again and asked him, "How would you like to be my Pediatrician when I adopt my baby?" he said he would love that! :D I almost cried. Adoptive parents have close bonds with other adoptive parents as they've been in their shoes. I was praising God and in awe that God had opened this door so quickly. "
Isn't that amazing? Not only did God find her a Pediatrician, but God gave her a Pediatrician that had adoption experiences. Amazing.
